“Borrow a Workshop is an IEEE Portugal Section initiative that has as its main goals to promote collaboration between the Student Branches and increase the number of technical activities in each Branch.” – says the official description of the event.
It was with this thought in mind that, on the 17th of March, the IEEE UP Student Branch sent two of its members to “lend” a workshop to Student Branches in Lisbon, more specifically, to the ISEL and IST ones.
The workshop was about the programming language LaTeX. The main topics were getting to know and how to recognize the patterns in the language for an easier understanding of it, give an overview of the templates both institutions already, how to think of projects as individual pieces of a larger whole and finally how to work with bibliographic references.
Half the time allocated to the workshop was for the participants to try to replicate a LaTeX example our members had prepared, and any questions they had were promptly explained, as well as trying not to give the full solution right away.
Near the end of the session, those who wanted to know more about how to put code or circuits in their projects stayed for a little while longer.
The feedback we had form both Lisbon Branches we visited was overall positive.
